In its pure state it is quite ductile, shiny, metallic and white in colour. The relatively high melting point of this element makes it useful as a refractory metal. Titanium is 40% lighter than steel, but equally strong. Compared to Aluminium, Titanium is 60% heavier but has more than double the strength.
In Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, there is a centre of excellence for advance metallurgical innovation.
Fluorsid produces high grade titanium powders and granules. Its real strength is in offering application optimised powders developed through close consultation with their customer. Fluorsid is able to offer other specialised metal powders including Silicon, Ferro Silicon 45%, Ferro Titanium, Calcium Silicide, Chromium and Aluminium.
Fluorsid products are supplied to a broad spectrum of industries for applications including: civil and military pyrotechnics, advanced coating metallurgical alloying. Fluorsid has a long history of working closely with Universities and research organisations to develop and optimise their powders for new and emerging applications.
Titanium Type II, HDH Powder – UN2878
Titanium HDH powder is produced via the Hydride-DeHydride process. This process uses hydrogen to make titanium brittle enough to be crushed. The titanium is crushed into a fine powder and then the hydrogen is removed under vacuum. The resulting material is typically >99% titanium with only trace amounts of other elements. Titanium sponge powder is available in a wide variety of sizes.
Titanium Type III, Powder – UN2878
Titanium sponge powder is produced via a chemical reaction between titanium tetrachloride and either magnesium or sodium. The resulting material is typically >98% titanium with only trace amounts of other elements. Titanium sponge powder is available in a wide variety of sizes.
Ferro Titanium Powder
Ferro Titanium is an alloy combining Iron and Titanium. The alloy is usually produced by induction melting before being crushed and milled to achieve the desired particle size. Ferro Titanium powder are used in steel refinement, in welding electrodes and in pyrotechnic applications. Customised particle size distributions are available on request.
