FLUORSID is pleased to announce the acquisition of 50% of the shares in CF Carbons, from Fluorchemie Frankfurt. CF Carbons is a leading producer of chlorodifluoromethane (HCFC-22 or, more commonly, R22), with a plant within the Industrial Park Hoechst, at Frankfurt-on-Main, and current production capacity of around 24,000 MT/year.
R22 is the main raw material for many fluoropolymers, including – in particular – PTFE and some special Fluoroelastomers.
The other 50% shareholder is Nobian (Nouryon Industrial Chemicals), a leading European producer of chlorine derivatives like chloromethanes. The two partners will safeguard the supply of the JV with the two strategic raw materials for the production of R22: FLUORSID through anhydrous hydrofluoric acid, Nobian with chloroform.
“The acquisition broadens the offer and strengthens the role of FLUORSID in the European market of fluoride derivatives”, says CEO Lorenzo Di Donato.
