Partnership with Hydro: from Norway to global projects
The relationship between FLUORSID and Norsk Hydro ASA has been built through time, and it aspires to keep evolving and strengthening itself in time. The agreement signed last November, which renewed the supply of Alf3 (Aluminium Fluoride) between FLUORSID and one of the main global aluminium manufacturers, reinforces a longstanding partnership between two companies that work together on international projects.
FLUORSID Noralf’s Odda plant will reserve, during the next five years, around 50% of its production for Hydro’s five aluminium smelters. Amongst these, we count the Sunndal factory, the biggest primary aluminium facility in Europe. «It is with great satisfaction that we comment such an important and strategic deal for the strengthening of our presence in the Norwegian market – reported FLUORSID’s CEO Lior Metzinger after the signing ceremony – The partnership with Hydro goes beyond any limit, thanks to a strong and shared ambition that allows us to cooperate in global development programs».
With production and business operations in around 50 countries around the world, with a significant intervention capacity in Brazil, Germany, US, and Qatar, Hydro is a longstanding FLUORSID partner. Thanks to the Norwegian branch, it is possible to operate with bulk deliveries, and to expand ambitious development projects that will make the production and consumption models competitive and substantial, in order to broaden the life cycle of industrial products and by-products.
«At the core of our cooperation – pointed out Metzinger who, during the signing meeting with FLUORSID Noralf general manager Jakob Løyning, met Ellen Jørgensen, Head of Strategic Sourcing & Procurement, and Bjørn Olav Kallevig, Head of Alumina and Fluoride sourcing – there’s always been an interest in sustainability and energy efficiency, as proven by the bulk deliveries and by the circular economy projects on which FLUORSID and Hydro work together».
