On 3 September 2024, Pasquale Lavanga, one of FLUORSID’s most emblematic and founding figures, has passed away.
He arrived in Sardinia in 1960 as a navy officer, he fell in love with the Island and decided to move there permanently after meeting his beloved wife Angela. Together with Count Carlo Enrico Giulini, since the beginning of mining activities in the Gerrei, he witnessed and actively participated in the
establishment of FLUORSID.
Thanks to his remarkable managerial and relational skills, Pasquale Lavanga played a crucial role in the development of the Island’s mining and industrial heritage; he held the position of FLUORSID’s Managing Director from the date of the company’s incorporation on 17 April 1969. In 2004, he also joined the Board of Directors, which he held until June 2017, in addition to holding other strategic roles in various Group companies.
Pasquale Lavanga dedicated more than 50 years of his life to FLUORSID and contributed in a significant way to the development of the company and of its people, leading it with a strong and a visionary leadership. His extraordinary professionality, combined with a deep humanity and a forward-looking vision, inspired generations of employees and collaborators.

His presence was a lighthouse for all of us, and his spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him and work alongside him. We express our deepest condolences to the Lavanga family, especially to his wife Angela and to his son Michele, who will continue to be a landmark for all of us. Continuing on the path traced by Pasquale, honouring his example and preserving the values he was able to instill in the company, will represent our daily commitment and the one for the future”.
